Objectives
Our strategic aims in the three core business areas of clinical services, research and teaching are shown below, along with aims in key supporting areas.
Clinical Services
We aim to deliver efficient and effective services that are affordable for commissioners and valued by patients and referring clinicians. Our goals include expanding service offerings for the local population, supporting the principle of local access wherever possible, and ensuring services are quick, easy to access, and provide an excellent patient experience. Above all, we are committed to delivering care to the highest possible standards.
Research
We are committed to developing collaborative and consultative research partnerships with patients, carers, and the wider public. Our research strategy supports excellence and innovation at both national and international levels, aligning with the Trust’s broader service priorities. Key aims include expanding our research portfolio, strengthening governance, and fostering partnerships with academic and healthcare organisations. A major initiative is the development of a Clinical Research Imaging Centre in collaboration with the University of Bristol.
Supporting Aims
We aim to achieve a sustainable financial surplus while continuously improving the environment for both patients and staff. This includes enhancing ease of access for patients and visitors and developing our estate to provide the optimal configuration of services. To support our mission, we are committed to maintaining robust governance, information structures, and systems that ensure efficiency, effectiveness, and the highest standards of probity.
Teaching & Learning
We are dedicated to enabling our staff to deliver safe, effective, and high-quality patient care. This includes fostering strong teaching and learning partnerships with education providers, supporting both personal and organisational development, and encouraging a culture of innovation and enterprise. To attract and retain talented professionals, we are committed to meeting the development needs of both current and prospective staff.
